Ahmet Türk stated: "armed combat hurts both Kurds and Turks. The method of using weapons is no longer an appropriate method for claiming rights. We are based on civilian democratization."

DTP Group Chairman Ahmet Türk had stated that the PKK is harming Kurds, which spurred debate. Ahmet Türk suggested organizing a conference to discuss the Kurdish issue in Europe. Türk said: "we want to listen to them, as well. We are very open and comfortable here. Civilian projects rather than armed methods should be suggested. One side of the event is the PKK and the other side is state policy." Türk was reminded of his previous words that "PKK is harming Kurds" and said: "what I said is very clear, the armed fight harms both Kurds and Turks. We, however, are based on the principle of democratization."
