Ergenekon case to be heard at Silivri
 17.05.2008

Ergenekon case will be heard at Silivri Prison due to high security measures. The defendants will stay in this jail during the term of the trial. The indictment is expected to be more than a thousand pages.

As the end of the investigation on Ergenekon organization is nearing, it is decided that the case will be heard at the biggest jail in Europe, Silivri Jail, due the security risks and small size of Istanbul Assize Court trial halls. Two special trial halls with high security were built in Silivri Jail for such cases. 47 arrested defendants including the retired colonel Veli Küçük will be heard and the total number of defendant is expected to be around 100 at the end of the trial. The indictment of the investigation going on for 11 months is expected to be completed in June. The investigation is carried out by three public prosecutors and the number of case files is around 300. The indictment is 1000 pages long.
