Iraq's list for oil exploration causes shockA list of the 35 international companies to explore for oil and natural gas in Iraq has been released. The absence of Turkey on the list, which even includes Korea has resulted in a wave of shock in Ankara. The minister of energy has stated "we will not stop inquiring."
The decision reached Turkey on Monday and caused alarm in Ankara. Turkish Petroleum Corporation applied for exploration rights in Iraq, however was not included in the list of international companies granted permission. Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia were among the countries with companies who received permission to explore, however Turkey was not on the list.
