Junta leader does not care about the public
 09.05.2008

Myanmar's military junta leader Than Shwe spared only $5 million for the total one million people left homeless in Myanmar. However, two years ago the leader had paid $50 million for his daughter's wedding.

The official number of people killed by the cyclone in the Asian country Myanmar has exceeded 100,000. Military junta leader Than Shwe has suspended the aid requests of millions of dollars; and has only given a donation of $5 million since the day of the disaster. However, in 2006, the junta leader had spent $50 million on his daughter's wedding. Shwe had bought a luxurious mansion for his daughter and his son-in-law. The opponents criticized the colonel harshly; the non-governmental organizations in the EU are also condemning the junta. British Save the Children Association authority Farmaner: "spending such an amount on the wedding is the shame of this regime. They prevent the international donations and do not use their own sources."
