Galatasaray won the revenge game against FC Sion in the first round of the UEFA Cup with a score of 5-1 and qualified for the next round.
Galatasaray had to win the game against FC Sion in order to qualify for the next round of the UEFA Cup. Galatasaray started the game fast and saved the rival team's goal immediately. The first half ended with a score of 3-0 with the two goals scored by Ümit Karan and one goal scored by Lincoln.
FC Sion wanted to use the advantage of the previous score of 3-2 and started with an emphasis on defense. Lincoln scored the first goal in the 22nd minute after receiving the ball passed by Linderoth. In the 29th minute, Hakan Şükür made a pass and Ümit scored the second goal. In the 36th minute, Arda passed the ball to the penalty field and Lincoln scored the third goal.
Lincoln passed the ball to Arda who entered the penalty field of Sion at the 68th minute and then scored the fourth goal for Galatasaray. In the 90th minute Reset of Sion passed the ball to Nwaneri who scored the first and only goal of FC Sion. Then again in the 90th minute, Bouzid scored the fifth goal for Galatasaray. The game ended with a score of 5-1 to the triumph of Galatasaray.
