State council decision not effective

Despite the coastal law, construction began for 3,500 villas along the Bodrum shoreline. The court cancelled the plans and the state council dictated it illegal to build there; however, construction continues at full speed.

The Yalıkavak municipality opened the shoreline to construction in 2004; however, the district court did not approve of it. The state council confirmed the court's decision last October and the construction sites took on illicit status.

3,500 villas despite the decision by state council

A shoreline spanning 27 kilometers was opened to construction in Yalıkavak, Bodrum in the year 2004 resulting in the construction of 3,500 villas. The court decided to annul the plans; and the state council confirmed. However, construction continues at full speed.

The municipality opened the shoreline of 27 kilometers to construction in 2004 although there was no permission for construction. 3500 villas have been built. Regional administration court cancelled the plans. The state council confirmed the court's decision and all villas became illicit. Constructions started in 2004 after Mustafa Saruhan from CHP was assigned as the mayor after the elections. The change of the shore revision plan was brought to the court. Muğla Administrative Court of 1st Instance decided to halt the execution; Yalıkavak municipality applied to the state council for annulment of the decision of the administrative court. But the state council confirmed the decision of the court and the municipality of Yalıkavak applied for appealing the decision.
