Young businessman dies of malariaThe young owner of Istanbul's Gold Refinery died of malaria after being infected in Africa. Businessman Ömer Halaç stayed five days in the woods of Central Africa three weeks ago. Then, he started investigations in Kyrgyzstan. Halaç got sick with a high fever when he returned to Turkey. Halaç was diagnosed with malaria and taken to intensive care; however, he could not be saved.

Ömer Halaç, the owner of Istanbul's Gold Refinery, became infected with malaria during an investigative visit to Central Africa and died at the age of 38. Ömer Halaç, the owner of Istanbul's Gold Refinery, Turkey's first official refinery, and owner of Halaç Jewelry in the Grand bazaar, became partners with the Khordia mine company in Africa last year. Halaç visited Africa frequently and went to the biggest city of central Africa, the capital Banghui. Halaç carried out investigations in the woods 200 kilometers away from Banghui with five Turkish engineers for one week. Then, Halaç returned to Turkey and visited Kyrgyzstan for investments. Halaç was carrying out investigations on gold mines at a temperature below 27 centigrade degrees and got sick. Halaç thought it was just the flu; however, doctors diagnosed him with malaria. Halaç was taken to intensive care immediately; however, he could not be saved. |
