"It is an honor to show my respect"
 14.05.2008

Britain's Queen visited the mausoleum and wrote these lines addressing Atatürk.

The 82-year-old Queen, unlike the Saudi King, walked the 262-meter Lion Road and went up 114 stairs to reach Atatürk's mausoleum. Queen Elizabeth and her husband Duke Prince Philip laid a wreath on Atatürk's mausoleum, paid a moment of respect and signed the mausoleum's special notebook. The queen signed the book as Elizabeth A. and wrote: "It is an honor for me to show my respect to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the most valued friend of Britain and one of the greatest figures of modern history." The Queen was given a photo album containing the photographs taken during her visit in 1971 as a gift.
