The hackers attempted to obstruct 'DDOS' internet access, however a specialist team at the Telecommunications Directorate (TİB) managed to protect the state websites from the attack. The Telecommunications Directorate's Technical Operations Department was stated to have taken on an active role in preventing the attack.
According to Dr. Barış Yaslan TİB Technical Operations Department Director, with the assistance of TÜBİTAK, Turkey's Scientific and Technological Research Institution, they were able to render the attack ineffective. After approximately two hours of attempting to stage a cyber attack, the Anonymous group put an end to their unsuccessful attempts and no internet websites were disrupted by the hackers, explains Yaslan.
