As the countdown continues for Germany's March 18th elections, with support from both the leading party and its main opposition, it appears Joachim Gauck is set to win the vote. Speaking with SABAH prior to the upcoming election, Gauck delivered a series of inviting messages to Turkish expats residing in Germany. "I will also become the president of the three million Turks that live in this country," states Glauck who also expressed that should he win the election, he wants Turkey to be the first place he visits. As for reaching accordance, Gauck says that the U.S. citizenship model should be used as an example, and states, "There is one thing we are proud of and that is the fact that there is also an extreme rightist party in our parliament."
Gauck also paid a visit to Ferhat Akdere, a 31-year-old Turk he hit with his car two years ago. Commenting on Gauck's visit, Akdere said, "He relayed his best wishes for my recovery."
