TAV PLACES HIGHEST BID FOR IZMIR AIRPORT

Turkish airports operator TAV Havalimanlari placed the highest bid of 610 million euros at the tender for rights to run international, domestic and CIP terminals at the Izmir Airport, western Turkey.

The tender was held on Thursday by General Directorate of State Airports Authority of Turkey.

plans to build a New Domestic Terminal with an approximate 250 million euro investment. Later, the Domestic and International Terminals will be connected by a bridge system similar to the one in place at the Istanbul Atatürk Airport. According to data from DHMİ (the general directorate of state airports authority), in 2011 the experienced a 15 percent increase in passenger numbers compared to figures from the first ten months of 2010, totaling seven million, 332 passengers.
