The Yacht Marina in Muğla’s popular Marmaris hosts approximately 5,000 people from over 50 different countries.
The Marina's foreign residents, which have become quite neighborly, tend to spend practically 12 months of the year in their boats docked at the marina. The marina, located in Yalancıboğaz, boasts a population larger than the two towns in the county and has 100 staff members. Even in winter, the number of residents in the marina never drops below 5,000. The majority of families whose yachts are fully self sufficient, have been residing at the marina for ten years now.
German national Günter Roloff and his wife Christa, whom for over the past seven years, have spent eight months of the year at the marina, say they are very happy. From Denmark, Jürgen and his wife Angela and their two and four year old children are also amongst those who spend the majority of the year in the marina. British national Brian Palmer and his girlfriend Jackie Oakey couldn't praise Turkey enough. "For us, England is now foreign. We have travelled to 80 countries and have never seen such a beautiful place."
