The total number of unemployed was 2,425,000, which is 212,000 people less than in the same month last year. Over a year, the number of employed increased by 675,000 people, bringing the total to 24.63 million.
Non-agricultural unemployment fell to a historical low at 11.1 percent. The unemployment rate in the younger population dropped from 17.9 percent to 16.7 percent in April, year-on-year.
