There has been no change in Turkey's stance. Until Israel offers a strong and official apology, the doors to Ankara will remain shut.

England mediates for Turkey and Israel

English Prime Minister David Cameron has supposedly delivered messages between the two nations' leader in an effort to repair relations. According to an article released by Israel's Haaretz newspaper, based on information provided by a high-level bureaucrat, after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on July 22nd, Cameron relayed a message from the Israeli leader to Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan.

What happened on the Mavi Marmara?

On May 31, 2010 Israel led a military operation on the Mavi Marmara aid flotilla which was organized by the Free Gaza Movement and Turkey's Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH) and was carrying humanitarian aid and construction materials for Palestine. While in international waters, Israeli forces raided the ship from speedboats and helicopters and proceeded to kill nine unarmed Turkish peace activists. The raid resulted in a deterioration of Turkish-Israeli relations. Israel has eased its blockade on the Gaza Strip since the attack, however relations remained strained as Israel has yet to offer an official apology.
